Renowned Bollywood actor and politician Mithun Chakraborty has reportedly been hospitalized in Kolkata after experiencing chest pain on Saturday (February 10). Media reports suggest that he was admitted to Apollo Hospital, feeling uneasy, and was promptly rushed to the private facility. The iconic Disco Dancer actor is presently undergoing treatment. Nevertheless, there has been no response from the actor's family members regarding the hospitalization, and the hospital itself has not released any official statement on the matter.

In January 2024, Mithun Chakraborty, a three-time National Film Award winner, was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award, by the Government of India. Expressing his gratitude in a video, he stated, "I am proud, I am happy to have received this award. I would like to thank everyone. I have never asked anything for myself from anyone. I am experiencing the feeling of receiving something without asking today. It’s a different feeling altogether. It’s a great feeling."

In terms of his recent work, the 73-year-old was last seen as a judge on the dance reality show Dance Bangla Dance, sharing the stage with Mouni Roy, Subhashree Ganguly, Srabanti Chatterjee, and Puja Banerjee. The veteran actor rose to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s, captivating audiences with his charismatic performances in action, drama, and dance-centric films. Renowned for his distinctive dance style, he earned the moniker "Disco Dancer" for his role in the 1982 film of the same name.

In addition to his successful film career, he ventured into politics, briefly serving as a Member of Parliament. His political journey included joining the Bharatiya Janata Party in March 2021, just ahead of the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election.
